Forum gathering young art performers and youthworkers committed to intervene on social exclusion through cultural animation. It will be a frame for comparing NGOs' best practices, sharing expertise, developing European networking and innovative solutions.
Art In (E)Motion: Young Artists for Social Inclusion is a meeting among young artists, cultural animators and social workers, organized by Italian NGO A.L.A. with the financial support from the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. Inside this European frame, participants will: present their local backgrounds; compare the roots of social exclusion in different contexts; show the solutions adopted; share know-how and expertise; learn new tools fit to empower social work; develop a European dimension out of increased open-mindedness and intercultural awareness. - Short-term goals: 1) the sharing of skills and experiences, by 2) giving our participants the chance of benefiting of fresh intercultural awareness coming from European youth mobility. - Medium-term goals: 3) empowered intercultural learning, and 4) development of new solutions to strengthen social inclusion in each national background. - Long-term goals: 5) the birth of a European network of youth organizations working at local level, whose first core will be set during the forum, committed to fighting social exclusion by art and cultural animation. This informal network will be 6) frame for an on-going exchange and sharing of expertise and information, and 7) home of European art&culture events.

A.L.A. is an Italian no-profit NGO of young people, volunteers, coaches and trainers. Our mission is to empower people by developing key competences to take responsibility, develop and follow sustainable paths for themselves and their communities. The guiding principles in our activities are an holistic approach to personal, professional and community development, the use of innovative, experiential, non-formal methods in a multicultural and multigenerational environment, and direct local impact.
We organize exchanges, internships, trainings, focus-sessions for people with fewer opportunites (with employment, social, geographical, educational and health problems) and educators (youth- and community workers, social workers, trainers, leaders, mentors, coaches, volunteers), and provide counseling on-the-spot to our international partners.
Since 2009 we have organized 1 local and 5 international projects for inclusion of disabled people and disadvantaged youth. We work with several grant programs: Grundtvig individual programs, Youth in Action, Council of Europe. We have created in 2011 an informal international network focused on sharing best practices on social work with diverse less-opportunity target-groups, and learning and disseminating nem methods based on non-verbal communication. This network has already received grants for international projects in Italy, Greece, Norway and Spain, involving almost 150 learners, 20 educators and experts and 15 European organizations.
