Trainer Profile
We have recruited 1 trainer/facilitator/author based on the following criteria:
General:
- being aware of several non-formal learning contexts in Europe (theoretical and practical frames)
- have knowledge of and/or experience in monitoring, assessement and validation of learning processes and achievements with a specific focus on young people with fewer opportunities
- have experience in implementing Youthpass, preferably for and with young people with fewer opportunities within the Youth in Action programme
- be an experienced international trainer/facilitator, have trainer/facilitator skills and be able to use appropriate, diverse and interactive methods at the seminar, when needed
- have knowledge about the European key competences for LifeLong Learning
Specific:
- to collect all relevant seminar material and develop it into online documentation (for website and toolbox)
- to steer the documentation of the seminar and develop an educational publication in the SALTO Inclusion for ALL seriesbased on the seminar as well as other relevant sources.
- be able to work and write in good (international) English, however does not have to be a native speaker.
- SALTO will ask for some previous writing work, preferably of educational material or youth work publications.
The involved SALTO Resource Centres use the SALTO Trainer Fee grid at www.salto-youth.net/trainerfees/.
For writing the booklet, SALTO will pay you an extra amount on top of the trainer fee.
SALTO requests its trainers to input all methods they developed for the course in the SALTO Toolbox for Training.
Selected trainer/facilitator
It was a tough decision.. But no more then 24 trainers applied for this post.
We selected Kathy Schroeder to be the trainer/facilitator for this seminar.
These are some of her past involvements in the Youth & Youth in Action programme, SALTO etc:
- 1993: a long-term volunteer working as placement officer and programme developer for Service Civil International (SCI) in Germany.
- a trainer in the "Step by Step" project (1998-2002) which was designed to experiment with different approaches to involve socio-economically disadvantaged young people in international voluntary service.
- a trainer in SALTO Inclusion RC events (including TC "A Focus on EVS" 2001, TC "Inclusion through Sport" 2004, "NA Inclusion Officer Staff Training" 2007)
- numerous training courses offered through National Agencies (e.g. EVS Short-Term Puzzled - 2002, SOHO network trainings - 2002-2003, Partnership For Inclusion - 2005, Quality Assurance through Risk Management - 2007, Staff Training for Heads of National Agencies - 2007, etc.)
- training events offered by NGOs all across Europe.
She has been the author of the following publications:
1. "Inclusion by Design - Develop Your Own Inclusion Strategy"
2. "Shaping Inclusion - A practical booklet to help National Agencies approach inclusion in a strategic way".
3. "Fit For Life - Using sports as an educational tool for the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities."
4. "Use Your Hands to Move Ahead - Using Practical Tasks to Increase Participation in EVS Short Term Projects."
5. "Reflections on... The role of European-level training events in stimulating the personal development of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds." Paris: European Inclusion Program (EIP). (2003)
The frame of the Reflection Seminar on NFL & inclusion
The NFL and Inclusion Seminar will take place in France from 18 - 22 May 2009 (one arrival day - 3 full working days - departure day). Please read the course description here.
There will be 1 prep-meeting of 2 working days with the prep team: in Estonia - from 9-12 February 2009
An evaluation meeting is foreseen on the departure day of the course.
