TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

Like in the in the different parts of the earth, in the society there are problems with the social inclusion. The aim of the project was to raise awareness of social inclusion and peace. Beside that we aimed to train facilitators/leaders and peace messengers for the work camps. During these workshops, volunteers were using art as a tool for making steps towards the issue solving. The participants were from the majority and minority social groups. During the two months workshop series the participants used visual and performance art, such as: collage, poetry, music, filmmaking, impro theatre and Theater of Oppressed.
The participants were youngsters from different backgrounds. The participants were from different countries by the origin, but living in Budapest.
The project was about to learn and practice tools, which will help to solve problems or offer opportunities of social inclusion. The first session was a platform for get acquainted to the tools and each other. We used some name-, and icebreaking games. By collage we shared information about ourselves. We talked about the expectations, fears and contributions related the course. We discussed the definition of peace, and the meaning by the literary tools. In next sessions the participants expressed their selves related environmental and migration issues. The instruments were the trash we are surrounded by. On one of the latest workshops we practiced the conflict solving, solution finding and the elements of cooperation by the role play. We had also sessions about the elements of improvisational theatre.
During the workshops we used intro tools of Theatre of Oppressed and in one of the closing sessions the participants tried this type of the theatre. They discussed and performed issues mainly about discrimination by the cultural differences, and language barrier. They are the once, which the participants experienced in their life. We had also a midterm and final evaluation.
The participants learnt a lot of new tools to help include the disadvantaged youth in society. The workshop series also prepared social workers/team leaders/ facilitators inter alia for work camps, in general in the civil sphere and in their everyday life. By the middle and closing evaluation, the participants were very satisfied; they mentioned that beside the new interesting tools they also learnt a lot about their selves too.
In the end of the course the participants were very motivated to continue, and share the new knowledge in frame of different other events.
I was responsible for the project application writing. During the project, I was also responsible as a trainer, and in the end I wrote the report.
