The TC target youth workers from the Euro-Mediterranean region engaged in nonviolent conflict transformation.
The TC target youth workers from the Euro-Mediterranean region who are engaged in constructive and nonviolent conflict transformation, and who come from or work in regions in which conflict is, or has been, fought out violently. Through a non-formal and creative learning process the TC aims to equip youth workers with knowledge, key compenteces and practical tools that are crucial for understanding and applying conflict transformation in their daily life.
The programme include:
- Youth work in the Euro-Mediterranean region
- Violence theory: direct, structural and cultural violence
- Conflict analysis: identify roots of violence in untransformed conflicts
- Transformation: development of peace projects to transform conflicts and violence
AREA: EU partner countries + Southern Mediterranean countries (Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey) + Balkans countries (Croatia (now an EU member), Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania).
Methodology:
- Learning by doing and cooperative learning
- Theatre of the oppressed: image theatre, invisible theatre (A.Boal)
- The Reciprocal Maieutic Approach (D. Dolci)
- Critical pedagogy (P. Freire)
Duration: June 2017 (7 days + travel days)
Participant profile:
We are looking for participants with:
- Professiional and human interest in peace education and intercultural dialogue
- Engaged in the EuroMed region, especially in youth related initiatives. A short background will be asked from the applicants.
- Interest in collaborating with a growing network of youth organisations in the field of peace education and intercultural dialogue in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
- Proficiency in English.
- Organisational affiliation is a plus.
