Youth Digital Volunteers

The ESC Volunteering project "Youth Digital Volunteers" will involve two volunteers.
They will be hosted for 12 months (from October 2020 to September 2021) at the office of the association “Movimentazioni”, located in Pescara.
Volunteers will be involved in the activities of the association, which has been involved for years in the management of its membership library, home to cultural events, meetings and seminars, watching films, intercultural events and promoting European opportunities.

In particular, the volunteers will be involved in a vast project of intangible redevelopment of the peripheral neighborhoods of the city through initiatives aimed at promoting culture and reading, social and youth animation and urban redevelopment. The project involves the creation of "Itinerant Creativity Laboratories" with all the necessary to host cultural and social promotion initiatives, training courses and workshops, both "outdoor" in the squares, in the streets, in the parks of the peripheral neighborhoods of the city, both "indoor", in community gathering spaces such as associations, youth gathering centers and libraries.

In addition to supporting the various social and cultural initiatives of the association, the specific task of the volunteers within the periphery redevelopment project will be to become "Volunteers for digitization" by spreading basic IT skills among the strata of the population at risk social exclusion, especially among young "Neet" who have dropped out of school and elderly people at risk of social exclusion.

The goal is to promote the use and knowledge of technology to generate innovation and strengthen active citizenship, increasing awareness of their rights and the use of digital services, especially among citizens of the suburbs as a means of union and social promotion.

The aim is to help all the people involved to strengthen their digital skills, on the one hand as an aid tool for society capable of generating high impact and social transformation effects, helping to create a digital society with more opportunities, more inclusive and participatory on the other for themselves, increasing personal skills, the spirit of initiative, entrepreneurial skills and self-esteem.

Volunteers for digitization will offer more and more valuable help, since with the evolution and continuation of the emergency brought by Covid-19, the digital divide in the marginal areas of the city is becoming wider, risking to exclude large sections of the population from the use of digital services to citizenship, the possibility of personal and entrepreneurial development, online socialization opportunities.

A great opportunity for the volunteers involved to bring a decisive contribution to the transformation of society, concrete help to the population and a chance for their personal growth, the development of their skills and a possibility of long-term non-formal learning.
