Omladinska Kulturna Organizacija (Youth Cultural Organisation) is looking for partners for the project “Youth Citizenship Activators” that is planning to submit to EACEA on 2nd of September deadline. The project will be a 8-day Training course for youth workers and youth leaders coming from 10 European countries that will be organized in Autumn 2016, in Mladenovac, Serbia.
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT:
Being active citizen in social, political and economic life has many advantages and almost always brings positive impact and benefits on people lives. It brings experience, knowledge, skills, contacts, education, mobility and job opportunities, trips, friendships and partnerships that otherwise we would hardly get in the comfort of our homes and nearby environment. Active participation widens people horizons, enriches lives, increases self-confidence and esteem, opens new doors for personal and professional development, strengthens ties with various actors in communities and often leads to job offers or increased chances for employment. But if the benefits are so high, then why people and especially young people don’t take active participation in societies and practice their citizens’ rights to be active in the political, economic and social processes in their countries? How youth organisations and youth worker can “activate” young people to take meaningful part in our societies?
The answers on these questions are not easy to get, but we as youth organisations have the obligation to find them out. That’s why “Omladinska Kulturna Organizacija” as youth organisation prepared “Youth Citizenship Activators” that will bring together youth workers, young leaders and young professionals in order to train them, provide them with competences and enable them to be tomorrow’s citizenship and participation activators by organising and running activities on local, national or international level that aim to motivate young people to take active participation in democratic life.
The project will explore the concepts and perceptions of citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular, their contemporary meanings, dimensions, understandings and ways they are used. The project will also tackle the challenges of citizenship education in youth work and active involvement of young people and will introduce the structure and role of EU institution and decision-making processes within the EU.
The project methodology will be based on non-formal education, experiential and intercultural learning with strong encouragement of sharing personal experiences, knowledge and best practices.
