Empowering youth workers with creative tools to spark climate action and sustainability in their local communities.
Young Steps 4 Climate is a youth workers mobility project designed to empower educators, facilitators, and youth professionals with practical tools and non-formal learning methods to raise climate awareness and inspire sustainable action among young people.
As climate change continues to be one of the most pressing challenges of our time, youth workers play a crucial role in shaping how the next generation understands, feels, and acts in the face of ecological crises. This project aims to bridge the gap between environmental knowledge and youth engagement by offering creative, experiential, and participatory approaches rooted in non-formal education.
Participants will explore interactive methods such as climate simulations, outdoor activities, eco-storytelling, gamification, and community-based project design. The training will also foster peer learning, international networking, and collective reflection on how to make climate education more inclusive, engaging, and action-oriented.
The mobility activity will be hosted by a partner organisation with solid expertise in climate education, sustainability, and outdoor-based youth work. The location will be selected based on the host’s capacity to deliver meaningful, immersive, and practical environmental learning experiences.
Main Goals:
1. Equip youth workers with innovative tools to deliver climate education through non-formal methods
2. Promote active youth participation in sustainability and climate justice
3. Support the professional development of youth workers with a green focus
4. Create space for intercultural exchange and the co-creation of local environmental actions
5. Contribute to the European Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals at local levels
Methodology:
The training will follow the principles of non-formal education, including experiential learning, cooperative tasks, outdoor exploration, and creative expression. The group will work collaboratively to design mini-projects and campaigns that can be replicated in their home communities.
Who Can Join:
We are looking for partner organisations with a strong background in climate action, sustainability, and youth work. Ideal partners include NGOs, informal groups, educational centres, or community organisations capable of hosting or co-developing an environmental youth worker training based on quality standards.
