"WORLD"
A European Solidarity Corps Project
(duration: 10 months)
Since 1999, NGO PROTOPORIA, through its educational programs and supportive psychosocial services, tries to make an impact to Greece, by empowering visually impaired people and their families, to develop their skills and regain their confidence. For the PROTOPORIA Team, social inclusion and solidarity are quite important values that we want to bring in our local community by implementing accessibility awareness campaigns and projects, such as European Solidarity Corps, in order for the visually impaired to enjoy equal opportunities in the educational system, job market and integrate smoothly in the society.
Collaboration is one of our main values and that can be proved by our close partnerships all these years with the concrete Greek Organisations, such as the public body Centre for Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind (CERB) and the Panhellenic Association of the Blind (PST).
Protoporia is applying for European Solidarity Corps with the project called "WORLD" WORking with the VisualLy ImpaireD for a period of 10 months. Currently, we are looking for a sending organisation who will help us find the most suitable candidate, interested in the field of social inclusion and disability. The young people hosted in the project, taking place in Athens Greece, will have the chance to empower the visually impaired students of our Organisation, as well as experience and understand the methodologies of informal and non-formal education and contribute with ideas and initiatives of their own to the activities of the Organisation. At the same time, they will develop social and personal skills such as the sense of solidarity which is one of the main founding principles of the European Union.
