"World of Mathematics: An Intercultural Journey through the Realm of Numbers"
Project Summary:
The " World of Mathematics: " project is an Erasmus+ KA152 Youth project that aims to enhance the mathematical skills and confidence of young people aged 13-25, focusing on innovative and engaging non-formal education methods. Through a series of workshops, training sessions, and international exchanges, participants will explore mathematics in real-life situations and learn about its relevance and applicability in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, arts, and entrepreneurship. This project will also foster intercultural dialogue, collaborative learning, and active citizenship among participants.
Objectives:
-Improve mathematical skills and competences of young people, increasing their confidence and interest in the subject.
-Promote innovative and engaging teaching and learning methods in mathematics.
-Enhance participants' problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills through mathematical activities.
-Foster collaboration, intercultural dialogue, and active citizenship among participants.
-Demonstrate the relevance and applicability of mathematics in various fields and industries.
-Encourage young people to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Activities:
Mathematical Workshops: A series of workshops where participants explore various mathematical topics, such as algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability, through hands-on activities, games, and puzzles. These workshops will also highlight real-world applications of mathematics in areas like finance, technology, and environmental sustainability.
International Youth Exchange: One week youth exchange program, bringing together young people from different countries to participate in collaborative learning activities, cultural experiences, and discussions related to mathematics education and its importance in today's world.
Math Competitions: Organizing local and international math competitions to foster a sense of achievement, motivation, and healthy competition among participants. These events will also provide opportunities for networking and collaboration among young people interested in mathematics.
Math and Entrepreneurship: Workshops focusing on the practical applications of mathematics in entrepreneurship and business management, such as budgeting, financial planning, and data analysis.
Math in Arts: Integrating mathematics with arts and creativity through workshops and activities, exploring topics like fractals, tessellations, and symmetry in nature and design.
Evaluation and Dissemination: Continuous monitoring and evaluation of the project, followed by the dissemination of results, best practices, and innovative teaching methods to other youth organizations, educational institutions, and stakeholders.
Expected Outcomes:
-Increased mathematical competence and confidence among participating young people.
-Adoption of innovative and engaging teaching methods by youth workers and trainers.
-Enhanced problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills among participants.
-Strengthened intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and active citizenship among young people.
-Greater awareness of the relevance and applicability of mathematics in various fields and industries.
-Increased interest in pursuing careers in STEM-related fields among participants.
By implementing the World of Mathematics: project, we aim to empower young people through mathematical competence, opening doors to new opportunities and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the subject.
