Empowering Gaziantep women aged 30–50 to overcome cultural barriers and learn cycling through training that promotes confidence, health, and equal access to spo
Within the Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports Sports Club, a significant number of women between the ages of 30 and 50 are unable to ride a bicycle due to long-standing cultural pressures and neighborhood-based social norms. The traditional belief that “girls should not ride bicycles” has prevented many women from learning this basic skill during their childhood. As a result, they remain disconnected from cycling and from the opportunities that an active lifestyle can provide.
Our project aims to break these societal barriers by empowering women through cycling education and promoting equal access to sports. By offering structured training programs, we seek to help women gain confidence, improve their physical well-being, and participate more actively in social life. This initiative will contribute to fostering a more inclusive sports culture in Gaziantep and support women in reclaiming their right to move freely and independently.
