The project aims at improving on vulnerable adolescent girls and women’s lives through teaching and training them with both LIFE SKILLS and HANDS-ON SKILLS
Life skills and hands-on skills were in existence from the period when man started living in the society. During the ancient period, the skills were seen only in the limited number of people however the number of persons with such skills went on to increase and the quality of skills went on to be passed from one person to another aiming to achieve basic survival skills in society. Life skills are the knowledge, attitudes and the ability for adaptive and positive behavior that enables individuals to deal effectively with the challenges of everyday life and among the skills we have, financial skills, critical thinking skills, and communication skills etc. While hands-on skills abilities are acquired through active engagement and practical learning rather than the typical classroom lectures or reading books. People can enforce these skills by practicing what they're learning immediately like tailoring skills, computer skills, instrumental skills and so many others.
This is an influential and integral part of gaining other vital skills as a skilled laborer and further more developing hands-on skills can help you increase your focus, attention and engagement. A hands-on approach to learning will provide techniques, tools and skills, which can help enhance self-esteem. Traditional training techniques often deliver knowledge that people may practice right away. A hands-on approach may enable them to incorporate specific skill sets into their work quicker since they will have been exercised throughout various trainings. Life skills and hands-on skills are very important towards the economic empowerment, sustainable livelihood, good health and productive life of vulnerable adolescent girls and women.
Women and young girls today play an active role in day to day survival of most of the unprivileged communities. They bear the double burden of work in the house and out of the house in search for family wellbeing. The low rate of literacy in the women is a disadvantaged part of the community. They do not have any other skill to earning a living so there is increasing risk for scarcity of livelihood and employment in the region.
Vulnerable adolescent girls and women lack practical active training skills of engagement on many social features and personal capabilities to interact with themselves and other people due to their Scio norms and financial hardships eliminating them from accessing vocational and skill training centers available within the country. This makes them run out of better decisions that require them to deal positively with any situation as they achieve their desired outcome in society. House wives and young girls depend much on traditional work like “housekeeping roles” for their daily survival however some do causal works for others but still produces a very poor pay which is insufficient to arrange a meal twice a day. These people in the matter are always from underprivileged communities who have hardly got a chance to have neither formal education nor any skills and are unsecure for their livelihood so due to lack of skills and awareness, they all need these techniques to create micro enterprises in a profitable manner.
