Empowering youth to analyze public spending, engage with policymakers, and explore historical justice for a fairer society
"Where Are the Millions?" is an Erasmus+ Youth Participation project designed to empower young people to critically engage with public spending, financial accountability, and historical justice. The project brings together youth from different countries to analyze government budgets, question resource allocation, and advocate for greater transparency and equity in public finances.
Key Objectives:
- Equip youth with the tools to analyze public budgets and question government spending.
- Promote transparency, accountability, and active citizenship through direct engagement with policymakers.
- Explore the historical roots of wealth and resources, addressing colonial legacies and ethical ownership.
- Foster cross-cultural collaboration and shared learning among young people across Europe.
Activities:
- Youth in the Netherlands, Germany, and Turkey will track national spending, analyzing budgets for transparency and social impact.
- Spanish participants will explore historical justice through discussions on colonial legacies, inspired by the case of the Colombian gold shipwreck.
- Interactive workshops, training, and dialogue with government officials will ensure meaningful participation and actionable outcomes.
- The project culminates in an international conference where youth present their findings and policy recommendations to a wider audience.
By combining financial literacy with social justice and historical awareness, "Where Are the Millions?" empowers youth to contribute to a more transparent, equitable, and inclusive society.
