1. Context and Rationale:

The global fashion industry continues to be a significant contributor to environmental degradation and social inequities. Despite growing awareness, the fast fashion model prevails, often at the expense of ethical and sustainable practices. Young people, having grown up in a fast fashion world, are uniquely positioned to advocate for change. They are key agents in promoting sustainability and driving shifts in consumer behavior and industry practices.

"Wear it Fair" builds on the successes of previous iterations by deepening youth engagement in sustainable fashion advocacy. This project will empower 35 young people from 7 European countries to participate in democratic processes, influence fashion industry stakeholders, and lead grassroots movements. The project will culminate in seven national events, one in each participating country, ensuring broad and lasting impact.

2. Objectives:

* Equip participants with the skills to organize campaigns that engage local policymakers in adopting policies and regulations promoting ethical fashion in their areas.

* Develop a deeper understanding of the fashion system, focusing on holding those in power accountable and facilitating the transition towards an
ethical fashion industry.

* Strengthen a transnational network of youth, NGOs, policymakers, and industry stakeholders committed to promoting sustainable fashion practices.

* Increase community engagement and awareness about sustainable fashion practices through local actions and national events, aiming for measurable shifts in attitudes and behaviors.

3. Outputs:

* Empowered Youth: 35 participants will gain the skills and confidence to advocate for sustainable fashion, becoming leaders in their communities and beyond.

* Online Advocacy Community: An online platform or social media group where participants can continue to share updates, support each other, and collaborate on future initiatives, ensuring ongoing impact and engagement beyond the project’s duration. A space for participants to connect with past participants, youth interested in the field and policy makers.

* 7 Informative Reels: Each reel, produced during the main activity, will focus on a specific aspect of sustainable fashion. These reels will be shared on social media and used during the national closing events to raise awareness and inspire broader action. (could be also a Participatory video)

* Local Actions and National Events: Participants will implement local advocacy campaigns in their respective countries, leading to seven national closing events. These events will showcase the outcomes of the local actions and promote sustainable fashion practices, directly engaging over 350 community members and influencing local fashion practices.

* Networking: A strengthened network of youth, NGOs, and industry stakeholders will emerge, facilitating ongoing collaboration and support for sustainable fashion initiatives.

* Measurable Change: The project aims to influence participant behavior, with at least 70% of participants reporting a shift toward more sustainable consumption patterns post-project, and a measurable impact in their communities through increased awareness and engagement through evaluation forms.

4. Budget and Funding:

The project will be funded through the Erasmus+ Youth Participation program, covering travel, accommodation, meals, training materials, and other essential costs. Additionally we will seek an additional budget from local sponsors, grants, or partnerships with sustainable fashion brands to support the bigger impact and dissemination of the project.

5. Sustainability and Follow-Up:

* Participants will receive continuous support from project organizers and peers during and after the implementation of their local actions. This support will include online check-ins, mentorship, and access to resources.

* The impact of the project will be evaluated through participant surveys, feedback from local communities, and a detailed analysis of the outcomes of the local actions and national events.

* Based on the success of this project, future initiatives will be planned, potentially expanding the scope to include more countries, broader industry engagement, and larger-scale public awareness campaigns.

Project overview

Wear it Fair (KA154 - Youth Participation) is a project by
Advocates Who Thrive
taking place
from 2025-01-01 till 2025-12-31
This project relates to:
Training and Networking
and is focusing on:
  • Democracy/Active citizenship
  • Environment
  • Sustainable development
This project can include young people with fewer opportunities like
  • Social obstacles
  • Economic obstacles
  • Cultural differences
  • Geographical obstacles
The project will engage 35 young people aged 18-30 from 7 European countries, carefully selected based on refined criteria drawn from previous experiences. Ideal participants will have demonstrated a strong commitment to ethical fashion through past actions or initiatives, showcasing their dedication to the cause. They should possess or be willing to adopt an activist mindset, ready to challenge the status quo and advocate for change. To enhance teamwork and local impact, preference will be given to participants who already know each other within their country groups. A basic understanding of sustainable fashion concepts and issues is required, as it will be further developed throughout the project. The selection process will prioritize diversity, ensuring representation from various backgrounds with a particular emphasis on including those with fewer opportunities, such as individuals facing economic disadvantages, those from minority groups, or young people living in rural areas. Above all, selected participants must demonstrate strong motivation and capacity to lead local actions and engage in long-term advocacy, as these qualities are crucial for the project's success and lasting impact. This carefully curated group will form a dynamic team of young change-makers, poised to drive meaningful transformation in the fashion industry across Europe.
