WE ARE ONE - EVS project

THIS IS AN OPEN CALL FOR POTENTIAL EVS PARTICIPANTS!

WE ARE ONE - 2016-1-SI02-KA105-013586– is a long term EVS project. The future EVS volunteer will have a chance to work in two organizations: Youth center Trbovlje and VDC Zagorje ob Savi-center for people with disabilities. The main aim of the project is to raise awareness that people with disabilities are no different than we are and that they too equally belong in our society.

What will be the tasks of the EVS ?

The volunteer's tasks in VDC will be to spend quality time with people who has mental and physical disabilities. Volunteer will provide companionship and individual support, which is not included in the regular tasks of employees. Volunteer will participate in sport, cultural and creative activities which are preformed daily and carried out a language course in his/her native language.
At Trbovlje Youth centre the volunteer will be part of the team together with other international volunteers. The volunteer will help also developed a project with a local group of youngsters about awareness of people with disabilities. The project will be done through creative methodology, the goal is to make a creative program of disability awareness that will be presented in schools and other organizations. The volunteer will also help with the realization of the program in the youth center, such programs as youth exchanges, concerts, free time activities. Every year we organize the »Special Olympics« for the users of VDC which the volunteer would also help organize ( the pictures are from last years Olympics).

We encourage each individual EVS volunteer to carry out a personal project that is connected to the individuals passion, hobby or interest. These kind of projects add most value to our organizations and are a great learning process for the EVS volunteer.

What kind of a EVS volunteer are we searching for ?

A young person, who doesn’t have problem working with people who has mental and physical disabilities (as Down's syndrome, …). Person who is flexible, open-minded, has a self-motivation and it’s proactive. Who has highly developed cultural awareness and is socially responsible, who knows how to express himself/herself and is familiar with communication in a foreign language. Someone who has understanding of the problem that people with disabilities face and is willing to work towards better awareness of this issue, with a group of local youngsters who are developing such a project. Creativity is always welcome and will be a great competence when it comes to developing strategies for disability awareness.
