walk-on Humans

Walk-on Humans (Woh!) is a 7 day (+2 travel days), training course which will be held in Lecce (Italy) with participants coming from different European Union countries.

The idea of this training course started after the experience from SEYF on the field of hosting and taking care of more than 120 young refugees and asylum seekers.

The main aim of "walk-on Humans" is to equip youth leaders and youth workers with experience, knowledge and tools on how to be catalysts and multiplier of integration with the youth that they work with. Thanks to the training course participants will have a wider understanding about the difficulties that migrants endure and what makes them leave their home country and also how they as youth workers can help them integrate in their community.

Objectives and aims:
- To improve youth organizations’ capacity to work for/with migrants and refugees.
-To break down stereotypes that one might have on other cultures.
- To equip youth workers with effective tools and methods for trainings and activities to learn how to tackle the issue of refugees with native youngsters.
- To help the participants understand what the migrants have to endure to reach their final destination.
- To increase knowledge and awareness of the participants on contemporary problems and challenges related to migration, migrants and refugees.
- To show youth workers how to encourage intercultural dialogue and building mutual understanding between new arrivals and the receiving communities.
- To explore the role(s) of a youth worker in the inclusion process of refugees and (newly arrived) migrants and in the process of raising awareness.
- To come up with new tools that could be used for a successful inclusion process within the various partners that would be present in the training course.
