Volunteering - youth work

Volunteer work will cover several contents and activities within the entire duration of the project (6 months).
-TRAINING thus includes introductory in-depth training of volunteers on arrival and during their stay and work with us. They will learn what and how we work with participants and young people and how we develop social and civic competences. Volunteers will work with employees, volunteers from the local community and through various trainings will be trained for further volunteer work and life. At the trainings, they will perceive and get to know the world around them. Through their own activities, they will learn about the importance of engagement and role in the community and the world.
-EVALUATION includes questionnaires on arrival, to better understand their involvement and desire for knowledge and competencies. Evaluation is an activity that we will carry out on an ongoing basis. We will carry out regular evaluations with volunteers in the manner of exchanging expectations and possible conflicts, and on the basis of the obtained information we will also adjust the implementation of voluntary work. Volunteers will evaluate their work by actively cooperating with other team members, expressing their expectations and concerns, confronting us with potential challenges and together we will develop volunteer work so that volunteers can make the most of volunteer work with us. the organizations involved will also benefit to the maximum.
-KNOWLEDGE OF NEW CULTURES from the point of view of volunteers and local population. Based on the conversation with the volunteers, we will jointly plan activities through which we will develop various competencies and skills. We will use different tools in the implementation of activities, depending on their abilities and interests, such as lectures, culinary workshops, foreign language, video, photography workshops, creative workshops, etc. As part of the activities, volunteers will present their culture in various ways. and get to know ours. Among other things, they will create, cook, narrate and play sports according to their competencies and abilities.
- FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING will be an activity that will accompany volunteers on a daily basis, as they will be constantly confronted with the Slovene word. Volunteers will communicate with volunteers, mentors and participants in a foreign language. They will actively participate in various activities that we carry out, such as tea parties, where they will train their knowledge in a relaxed and pleasant way.
- Volunteers will get to know SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND VOLUNTEER WORK by visiting various organizations in Slovenia. On a weekly basis, they will get acquainted with the work and role of each organization and thus get to know the structure of connections with the non-governmental sector. If appropriate, they will receive challenges tailored to their capabilities in each organization, and volunteers will try to solve them. Through these activities, they will actively listen to representatives of various organizations and, with the support of a mentor, tackle the challenges of each organization and write articles about their experiences with each organization. They will participate in their work and thus expand their competencies and knowledge in the field of Slovenian language and interpersonal competencies, self-initiative and entrepreneurship, digital awareness and all other competencies. The purpose of learning about social entrepreneurship is to acquaint the volunteer with this form of work and the use of acquired knowledge in everyday life. The purpose of the cooperation is to get to know the activities of the non-governmental sector, positive practices in our region. Volunteers will learn about the importance of social entrepreneurship for the individual and the community and integrate it meaningfully into their lives. They will understand the importance of volunteering for the growth and development of the individual.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT
Accommodation will be provided in the hostel of the Youth Center Prlekija, the volunteer will be accommodated in an apartment that is part of the youth eco hostel. The apartment is located near the town of Ljutomer, close to all important infrastructure (shops, pharmacy, health center, post office, bank, ...). The volunteer also has access to the outdoor green areas of the hostel. Internet access is guaranteed. The amount of food and pocket money will be determined later. Transport costs will be reimbursed in the amount determined by the Erasmus + distance calculator.
