Volunteer in pandemic situations

The situation caused by COVID-19 meant the necessary enforcement of severe restrictive measures on individual mobility and the development of the daily activities of the population, at national, European and international level.

The situation had a huge impact on the most vulnerable people, and the essential actions of professionals from social organizations in relation to these groups are made clear, as well as the coordinated and complementary actions of social volunteering to optimize the community network, in the event of an emergency situation caused because of the pandemic.

However, it is necessary to establish, at this time, the appropriate conditions for the best development of voluntary action, in order to prevent the proliferation of initiatives without control, which could be harmful to volunteers or recipients of volunteer actions.
For all this, from Fundación ASPAYM Castilla y León, we want to deepen the management and coordination of volunteer actions carried out in health emergency situations derived from pandemics, taking a tour of the different systems used at European level, falling upon the new modalities that emerged during the pandemic and analysing the most relevant in terms of management, coordination, specific training of volunteers, used ICTs and developed good practices.

The conclusions obtained from this seminar will be used in a future phase, in which action measures will be designed and implemented in the field of youth workers, youth leaders and trainers.
