United in Peace

The Danish United Nations Association is looking for partners only from regions experiencing or recovering from conflict.

The European Union won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 because of its “six decade-long contribution to peace and human rights in Europe”. However, the work is not finished since conflict within and among nations are not entirely demolished, we just have to think about the clash between Catalonia and the Spanish government, the conflict in Moldova with the Transnistria region or the Ukraine crisis. The form of conflicts may vary – inter-ethnic, inter-religious, international or any other – but many states face urgent situations of tension and are not always prepared to handle them. Young people face different kinds of conflict in their lives and many of them live in regions experiencing or recovering from conflict. Living in a conflict region redoubles struggles of young people with growing competition in education and the labour market. In order to respond to these needs, youth workers have to possess the necessary competences, tools and methods to be able to support them.

The aim of this project is to increase youth workers competences from Europe's conflict areas with tools to promote peace, mutual understanding and human rights.

Objectives:
•To increase the knowledge of youth workers upon the role and responsibility of different stakeholders in peace
•To give youth workers conflict transformation tools to be able to work with young people in regions experiencing or recovering from conflict
•To give youth workers tools to promote peace and human rights
•To develop methods in peace education

Activities:
1.Training Course (September 2019) in the Republic of Moldova including 30 youth workers
2.Seminar (February 2020) in Denmark including 30 youth workers

The target group of both activities are youth workers from the partner organisations, who are working with young people in conflict and post-conflict areas.
