Two weeks of natural building and crafts on permaculture farm.

DESCRIPTION:
Do you want to make a (modest) contribution to a more regenerative world by inspiring people, rather than telling them what to do? Do you, meanwhile, want to taste simpler living close to nature, together with like-minded people? Then Boskanter, in the Flemish part of Belgium, might be for you.
With our project, we hope to broaden the scope of alternatives, reduce fear and create hope and courage to consider the radical changes that need to be made in the world, rather than to criticize the current system and people trapped in it.
Tasks: harvest and process food, small eco construction work, green maintenance, regenerative gardening, make sourdough bread
The first week we work on Boskanter farm, where we will build on a log-house sauna with cob and a rocket stove (amongst others). In the weekend we offer a three day hiking tour to inspiring places. The second week we stay at Klokhuis farm, where the main work will be in the garden. We finish with a pizza party.

ACCOMODATION:
In Boskanter farm, you will share several rooms with mattresses and beds. For the hike we provide tents. You need to bring a sleeping bag and travel mattress. In Klokhuis farm, you can sleep in tents or share a wagon, using your own sleeping gear.
In both farms there is one outdoor shower with sun-heated water and we use compost toilets.
We will cook together with local products. The food will be as much as possible local, organic, seasonal, vegetarian and home-processed.
We will move between the farms (8-10km) and during the hike by foot. There are some bikes available.

TRAINING:
We will teach you the skills needed for the jobs we will do. In Boskanter farm you will have the opportunity to learn to harvest, make and use natural cob, scything, spinning, carving wood, make juice, bake sourdough bread and pizzas, ... Dirk will give you an introduction in the function of the rocket stove. In Klokhuis farm, Ben will offer a forging workshop and Sylvie will make natural ointments with you.

PARTICIPANT:
We look for volunteers that search a place where they can try out simple(r) living close to nature, with like-minded people, because they are worried about the destruction of the ecosystem and want to explore how to act or how to live. Don’t expect a fully operating self-sufficient system, though. We are small, we’re still part of this world and sharing this life with others limits our efficiency. You help with what we are currently doing. We accept no drugs or smoking. Alcohol is limited to special occasions.
