Training Course on How to Report on Refugees

The TC is aimed at encouraging the exchange of knowledge on how to report on refugees and migrants, and creating a forum for discussions among NGOs

The project
The flow of refugees from Africa and the Middle East into Western Europe has provoked a set of reactions on the role of media in reporting on what is considered as one of the biggest humanitarian crisis of our times. As young media makers and activists we recognise the need for further common reflection. Therefore, we would like to encourage the exchange of knowledge on how to report on such topics, and create a forum for discussions among NGOs. Moreover, with this project we want to enhance awareness among young media-makers, decision-makers and civil society on good media practices. Our goal is to train and encourage young journalists and media makers to give a real voice to refugees, without victimising them.
The training will involve young journalists, media makers and bloggers from 6 countries: Lebanon, Italy Belgium, Serbia, Hungary and Greece. It will consist of two sessions of 5 days each, the first in Lampedusa around Mid-March and the second in Brussels in May.
