Towards a digital and inclusive rural community

The project aims to create a rural, digital and inclusive community in a European dimension, as a BEST PRACTICE.

The proposal arises from a careful analysis of collective needs in our territory, with
particular attention to young and vulnerable people such as the elderly.
In the last decade we have witnessed great changes such as strong technological development,
more unstoppable, accompanied by crises, first Covid and then the war, which have significantly
the productive, economic and commercial structure of the country and Europe has changed.
In the Municipality of Alviano these phenomena are found in a rarefaction of services to the citizen,
fewer physical locations and increasingly online (for example banking activities, telephone top-ups,
email services, PEC, access to social media...) which is accompanied by a progressive digital GAP,
especially for the elderly and over 60s. Young people, who are in step with the transformation
technological, there are fewer, and they often move to the city to study or work.
The progressive depopulation of small villages is now a fact across the entire national territory, which began two decades ago and has worsened considerably in recent years.
On the other hand, Alviano offers historical and naturalistic scenarios of great importance, such as the
Castle and the WWF Oasis; it is part of the Tiber River Park and forms a network with neighboring municipalities for the promotion of the territory and its sustainability.

From these premises, the proposal aims to create a rural, digital and inclusive community an European dimension, as a BEST PRACTICE, to break down digital and linguistic barriers, promote youth employability and, through young people, strengthen digital services to people as fragile as the elderly and disabled,

Cooperation activities will be carried out in each participating country to intercept common solutions in similar contexts, where the digital divide persists and the generational difference is marked, where the frail as well as the elderly remain behind compared to the giant strides of technology. In this scenario, it is young people who intervene to experiment with digital solutions, train and inform. The activities in each country include meetings, workshops, monitoring etc. Two mobilities will be carried out to train young people and identify common solutions, one in a partner country and the other in Italy to close the project and disseminate the results.
