The White Rabbit Lair

Our project aims at raising young people's awareness and mobilization around environmental challenges in order to encourage the development of "green" skills.

“Paradiso Ritrovato” is proud to present you the youth exchange "The white rabbit lair". It will be a multilateral youth exchange within Youth in Action program and we will apply for the 1st February deadline. Youth in action program will finance food and accommodation costs and the 70% of travel costs.
“Paradiso Ritrovato” is an association created by women that have been studying and researching for years in Italy and abroad in the field of education and ecology. We support the development and the experimentation of communitarian, sustainable and cooperative life styles.
"The white rabbit lair " will take place in northern Italy in Cuneo countryside, very close to Turin, from the the 20th to 27th of August 2012. There will be 20 participants from 4 different countries. Each group will be composed by 4 young people aged between 18 and 25 years old and a leader with no age limit.
Our project aims at raising young people's awareness and mobilization around environmental challenges in order to encourage the development of "green" skills and behaviours among young people and youth workers and their commitment to a more suitable growth.
The project has being inspired by “ Alice in wonderland ”and its core is to discover what is inside the lair.
We will dive with the youth in the white rabbit lair in order to find a creative and innovative active way to face the challenges of life. We want the participants to develop new skills in order to find solutions for a world that is seeking green- initiatives.
By reviewing the tale 's symbolism we will “relive” Alice' s path in wonderland . We will discover with the youth what it means to live in a world where everything is connected as in our society and environment.
The main activities will be inspired by key points of the tale.
We will pretend to eat Alice in wonderland's mushrooms to get smaller and bigger to observe the world from different perspectives.
We want to celebrate “no birthdays parties” to recognize values that in our society are discouraged such as diversity and altruism.
We encourage the youth on thinking about their “white rabbits” . Who\what in their lives is supporting them on keeping the right track.
We will examine what in our lives can be compared with the “Red heart Queen”, which stands for egoism and the “White Queen”, which stands for altruism.
The red line of the project will be the design and the construction of a creation, such as a herb garden, compost toilet and clay oven that we will build up daily with local and natural materials. Through this activity we want the youth to adopt a cooperative way of working together.
The project methodology is designed in order to have a good balance between theory, practical work, valuable social moments and introspective one.
We are thrilled to invite you to take part in this project.
