CrafTS empowers youth by reviving traditional crafts and digital skills, tackling rural unemployment.
Across Europe, traditional crafts are slowly disappearing—threatened by globalization, digital transformation, and a lack of generational renewal. At the same time, youth unemployment in rural areas remains worryingly high.
These two challenges, often addressed separately, are in fact deeply interconnected.
The CrafTS – Crafting Futures project highlights the untapped potential of traditional crafts as a driver of sustainable employment, creativity, and cultural preservation.
Funded under Erasmus+ KA210-YOU (Small-scale Partnerships in the Youth Field), this initiative brings together partners from Spain, Portugal, and Italy to boost youth employability by revitalizing traditional skills and adapting them to the digital world.
Through fieldwork, educational planning, outreach activities, and international cooperation, CrafTS empowers young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). The project reconnects them with the knowledge of master craftsmen while equipping them with the digital tools needed to succeed in today’s economy.
