Tango Me For My Parkinson
As is known, Parkinson's disease (PD) is common and affects the least number of million people Europewide. People with
Parkinson's have moving difficulty and their participation in social and family life is limited. They also have problems
participating in physical activities. Movement disorders associated with Parkinson's disease with inadequate exercise can
compromise balance and gait, leading to further immobility, falling, loss of independence. Although the benefits of exercise
are beneficial for people with Parkinson's disease, they can weaken their lifestyle. Therefore, therapeutic dance has become
popular for the people with PD. It allows some types of dance, such as tango and waltz, to make balancing movements for
mild to moderate people with Parkinson's and make it routine. Thus, it helps to improve the quality of life of these people.
One of our goals is to provide a new perspective on the benefits of dance for people with PD and to revive new activities by
raising awarenes. The project "Tango My For My Parkinson” harmonizes with the European development strategy with our associated partner
Istanbul Tango Parkinson Derneği(Istanbul Tango Parkinson Association-ISTANPAhttps://www.facebook.com/tangome.tangome.1) as it is based on its strategic target set to deliver high quality Tango
Dancing Movement Activities(TDMA) for disadvandaged young people as Social Inclusion Opportunity. Especially young
participants with Parkinson Disease those who are from disadvantaged categories (with behavioral disabilities due to
Parkinson Disease). The implementation of the project implies the activities for the Staff( Tango Dance Teachers/Trainers)
as the participants in the project "Tango Me For My Parkinson"in order to provide professional knowledge and skills for the
adults with Parkinson Disease. With our carefully chosen partners, we will be able to implement modern strategies of
inclusive teaching, develop action plans in the areas of institutional development, undertake projects to improve the quality
of the teaching/training process, to motivate participants, colleagues and partners to improve the efficiency of the
organization-family-community relationship. This project will be a starting point for future projects to be conducted in
collaboration with other European institutions through Erasmus + to exchange of good practices. We expect a long-term
growth of the social involvement of young people with special needs, with Parkinson Disease and a consistent rise of the
prestige of our institutions as one delivering high quality learning, teaching, training based on real innovative inclusive
practices. The satisfaction coming out from the project results will help increase self-esteem and motivation of our teachers
and participants to offer good equal chances to all our societies in Europe
