UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. Through the TC youth workers will be driven in the appreciation of such territories, then to transform this appreciation into an opportunity of professional growth thanks to the tools of territorial marketing, aimed at fostering the development of places according to their peculiarities.
European geoparks are located in rural areas experiencing slow economic development, high levels of unemployment and population decline. By definition a European Geopark is a territory which combines the protection and promotion of a territory.
MAIN ISSUES OF THE PROGRAMME:
- UNESCO Global Geopark
- The environment and its potential for social and cultural development
- Analysis tools: focus on SWOT and Community mapping
- Territorial marketing
- Co-development of territorial strategies

July 2017 (7 days + travel days)
PARTICIPANT PROFILE:
We are looking for participants with:
- Professional and human interest in environmental education and rural development
- Engaged in youth related initiatives. A short background will be asked from the applicants.
- Interest in collaborating with a growing network of youth organisations in the field of rural development.
- Proficiency in English
- Organisational affiliation is a plus.
