Sustain-ED: Empowering Students for Holistic Sustainability Awareness

Sustain-E empowers students to understand sustainability holistically—environment, integrating SDGs through cross-curricular projects and digital tools.

As a result of the increasing sustainability problems facing the world today, there is an urgent need to equip future generations with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to understand, critically analyse, and respond to these problems with effective solutions. While the awareness of sustainability today often focuses primarily on environmental issues, achieving sustainable development requires a holistic perspective that integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Therefore, Sustain-Ed aims to empower students to comprehend the interconnected nature of sustainability while developing the competencies necessary to analyse complex problems, propose practical solutions, and take responsible action. The project seeks to provide students with a holistic understanding of sustainability, integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into cross-curricular learning through collaborative projects, experiential activities, and digital learning tools. Key outputs of the project will include a digital Student Sustainability Toolkit and a collection of cross-curricular lesson plans designed to engage students in real-world sustainability projects.
