Strategy20

Free movement of citizens is a fundamental principle enshrined in Article 20 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. According to it, citizens of the European Union have “the right to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States”. Despite the long history of freedom of movement within EU borders, the concept of integration of the mobile citizens is still developing and changing and further efforts are needed to ensure that they have the opportunity and means to be active and engaged within their local communities.

Strategy20 is a 2-year Strategic Partnership, which aim is to strengthen the integration of mobile citizens and to increase the capacity of youth organizations to connect, engage and empower mobile EU citizens. The project will collect examples of local cases, initiatives and policies about the successful integration of mobile citizens across Europe and compile them into a booklet that will be used to further disseminate the projects results.

What is more, the project foresees the implementation of local activities by each partner, where representatives of the mobile citizens will have the chance to meet with local stakeholders and develop a strategy for connecting, engaging and empowering the former.
