Sport in Kimbondo.

The volunteers will experience the practice of CADS (Children’s Able and Disabled Sport) in Kimbondo pediatric hospital in the Democratic Repubblic of Congo.

The main objective of this EVS project is to improve mobility and employability of young people and to develop solidarity by promoting active citizenship and improving social inclusion also in an extra-European context. The project intends to bring a group of volunteers from different European countries at Kimbondo in the Democratic Republic of Congo to perform voluntary work in the pediatric hospital of Kimbondo. The Kimbondo pediatric hospital is the only free hospital in the area of Kinshasa and also hosts numerous orphans who would not know where to go. Moreover the hospital has a special structure dedicated to children with different disabilities called 'Patrick's House'. The young volunteers will share the daily routine of Patrick's House and will be in charge of the animation of the younger guests of Kimbondo. In particular, the volunteers will be trained in the practice of CADS (Children’s Able and Disabled Sport), a series of unique sport, heath and leisure activities addressed to both able and disabled children and young adults with the intent to create together a team which, through sport, can develop the culture of integration and solidarity and the acceptance and valuing of diversity. This practice is well suited to the reality of Kimbodo pediatric hospital and also responds to the needs of physiological and psychological growth of children with disabilities by respecting and promoting their creativity and their need for socialization.
After a specific initial training on the practice of CADS given by experienced educators, the volunteers will be able to organize workshops and tournaments of outdoor sport activities involving both the able and disable guests of the hospital and also involving the youths of the local community who will approach to the issue of disability and social inclusion.
Volunteers's tasks:
