SOL & CAFÉ - Support of Learning and Coaching Approach for EVS

Introduction

SOL&CAFÉ is the international training course design to develop the competences of mentors and EVS stuff on how to support the personal and professional development of volunteers during their activity. We plan to focus mainly on coaching as a tool for support in EVS. After working with EVS volunteers for past 20 years and analyzing their needs, we have identified that the activity can be an amazing opportunity for youth to reflect on the competences, plan the personal and professional development and decide upon their future careers. Many young people decides to do the EVS project lacking the purpose in their lives, because they don´t know what to do in their future, and due to the lack of employability possibilities. The standard system of mentoring sometimes is not responding those needs of volunteers. On the other hand coaching can serve it´s purpose.
Therefore in this training we will focus on filling up the gap that exist and introduce the coaching as a system of support of learning and personal development.

Profile of participants

The training course targets youth workers directly working with the EVS volunteers – that can be project coordinators (supervisors) and the mentors of EVS volunteers.
Specific requirements:
• Be able to participate in the whole duration of the training
• To have previous experience working with EVS volunteers
• Has a motivation to develop the coaching skills
• Be able to communicate in English
• Training is for people over 18 years old – there is no max. age limit

When and where?

The training will take place in the city of Lorca, in the south of Spain between 23rd and 30th of October 2017.
Participants will be accommodated in the youth hostel in the training and youth center called M13.

Financial conditions

The travel costs will be reimbursed based on the real costs occurred, and with the limit of the flat rate given by distance calculator of ERASMUS+

Board and lodging will be provided, and there is no participation fee.
