Social Europe talks

6-day training course for early intervention in preventing social risks.

Todays Europe has a chaotic dynamic at a politic, economical and social level. In the field of youth, cyberbullying, hate speech and violence can have damaging effects in comunnity development, especially for young people. Even though non-formal education is more and more appreciated in the formal educational system, youth workers are still struggling with a lot of difficulties when working with young people with vulnerabilities.
Social Europe talks is a 6 day training course that aims at providing the logistical and content aspects needed in order to support the transfer of information and knowledge in the field of youth education and training, from experienced youth workers that will give practice and evidence based models of early intervention for preventing specific risks, managing youth activities, filling a practice based gap that exists at the moment.
TED Talks are world famous. A whole scene has sprung up around them. High-powered speakers are filmed conveying knowledge and experience in speeches. They cover a wide range of issues in a way that inspires people. The talks usually revolve around the speakers’ personal stories – they put themselves on the line as it were, tackling big topical issues in ways to which everybody can relate. Social Europe talks with take the fishbone structure of TEDtalks and build on it, conveying practical information about how people use their personal knowledge and experience to make a difference in care and welfare work.
The specific ojectives of the training course are:
OS1- To eqquip 21 participants from 7 partner countries with essential public speaking skills, such as: 7 Cs o communication, storytelling, impromptu speeches, bodt language, in order to structure and imlement a Social Europe talk;
OS2- To develop an european platform of practitioners in the field of youth, social services and education that will enhance practice based knoledge and peer to peer learning;
OS3- To consolidate initiative and critical thinking spirit among the participants form the 7 partner countries;
OS4- To support the partner organisations in enhancing their organizational capacity and quality of provided services to youth;
The activities were developed according to the European standards of non-formal education and youth work, with a dynamic that includes different methods of achieving the results. There will be 3 daily sessions and 1 reflection session, and the final product of the course will be a TEDx-like event, a Social Europe talks event, that will cover the areas of knowledge the participants work in.
The training will take place in Ilfov county, close to Bucharest, between 1st-8th of November 2019.

The target group of the training course comprises of youth workers, youth leaders, socio-educational animators and all practitioners directly inolved in the area of youth and education for people from disadvantaged groups. They work directly with disadvantaged youth from local communities, such as people from rural area, NEETS youth, victims of gender based violence etc. The occupational standard of a youth worker offers flexibility at a European level in choosing the target groups and the activities to be developed.
