Social Agriculture

As Samsun Probation Directorate, we ensure that young offenders who are given probation, follow the program they must comply with during the execution process. However, besides this and more importantly, we are planning activities to support their motivation to stay away from crime, to rehabilitate them and to reintegrate them into society. We are working to establish a HOBBY THERAPY VILLAGE where the young offenders will be directed to agricultural activities and business lines with regional validity, where they can increase their competencies at the end of theoretical and practical training and have the opportunity to
make social agricultural production.

The project outline is as follows.

With the project we planned to be carried out for disadvantaged young people who have been involved in a crime or who have committed a crime, studies will be carried out to determine whether the causes of the crime will be repeated or not. It is planned to include young persons who have been released from prison and included in the probation process for the first time by being involved in crime. While selecting the young people to be included in the project, they will first be subjected to screening and evaluations regarding their personal characteristics and skills and abilities, socio-economic status, family life and general
psychological status. Questionnaires and screening inventories related to personal and social characteristics are planned to be implemented by trained specialist personnel working in the probation directorate.

After the screening, evaluation and identification stages, young people will be directed to courses to receive agricultural training in the areas determined by our region's agricultural research institute, according to their skills and interests. At the same time, psychological therapy and treatment processes will be initiated. Execution processes of young offenders will continue simultaneously. In addition,
social and cultural activities will be included in the process. Those who want to find a job among those who have completed their education and are entitled to receive a certificate will be provided with the opportunity to find a job by contacting the relevant institutions. Young persons who want to start their own business and those who want to produce through social agriculture will be supported by the relevant institutions, and consultancy will be provided on career counseling and self-employment projects in this direction.

As the physical area of ​​the project, the rehabilitation center will consist of three single-storey buildings in nature. The buildings will consist of the Administrative building (at the same time, the execution proceedings will be followed), the training and rehabilitation area and the activity center, and the training workshops. In the garden part, there will be an open education area in the form of an amphitheater, hobby gardens, a walking path, a bicycle path and a playground, and enough space will be allocated for indoor and outdoor agricultural practices. The architectural area will be prepared with an architecture that will eliminate the negative effects of the prison, and activity-oriented stress-reducing and adaptive factors will be taken into account.

The energy need of the physical area will be provided from renewable energy sources (wind or solar energy depending on the location), and an environmentally friendly nature-friendly physical design will be applied by giving importance to recycling.
