Smart Sustainable Crafts: Upcycling (AI: Upcycling)

The project "Smart Sustainable Crafts: Upcycling (AI: Upcycling)" arises from a deep reflection on the situation we are currently experiencing and which, in essence, has affected all of us directly or indirectly. As the name suggests, aim to empower young people through recycling and break some preconceived ideas about professions associated with sustainability. Thus, we intend to unlock barriers that are not only sustainable, but even intergenerational

Aims
● To foster creativity and emotional well-being in young Europeans through artistic expression and community regeneration;
● to strengthen the cultural identity of Meaus through active community participation and the transformation of spaces;
● to encourage more conscious consumption and environmental responsibility;
● to reflect on individual potential and start using them in favor of sustainability;
● to raise awareness of socially relevant topics and, thus, stimulate involvement in society and active participation in democratic life;
● to develop key skills in participants, such as critical thinking, leadership and emotional management, through non-formal learning methodologies and documentation in an artistic diary.

For Whom?
The workshop will host 25-30 participants from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, including representatives from NGOs, public institutions, and cultural organizations. These participants are committed to empowering young people and fostering growth in their communities.

Methods

The methods used in this project belong to the field of non-formal learning and are designed to promote personal and group creativity while developing self-confidence by participation and critical thinking. They can be classified into the following types:
● Project-based learning, where participants will develop creative initiatives with community impact
● Lateral thinking techniques, fostering innovation and creative problem solving
● Artistic diary, as a tool for reflection, self-assessment and documentation of the process
● Co-creation workshops, promoting collaboration between young people and the local community to generate meaningful interventions
● Immersive experiences, using the rural environment of Meaus as a source of inspiration and active learning
● Group dynamics and participatory facilitation, ensuring the exchange of ideas, inclusion and the collective construction of knowledge.

Expected Outcomes

● Increased motivation and personal commitment: improving their creativity and expressing their ideas, connecting with the environment and being useful to the community will increase their sense of purpose and belonging.
● Greater satisfaction and emotional well-being through artistic and collaborative development. Participants will be aware of their own concepts and resources, proactivity in creating new professional opportunities, cultural diversity (even in their own country), realizing that the changes are in themselves and not in those who expect them, they will be carried out (even during the end of their mobility) so that they can prepare for the end of their project and return to their home country.
● Reduce stress and strengthen your self-esteem through the realization of creative projects with great social impact.
● Personal empowerment and self-confidence, facing personal and professional challenges with greater security. Decision-making within the creative process will reinforce their leadership capacity and autonomy.
● Lasting impact on the community and participants. Participants will be able to replicate the learnings in their personal situations and their own communities, generating a multiplier effect.
