Small Matters

Are you a small organization based in a no-where, tiny place in Europe? Do you work with limited resources and still do a great quality work? This ad is for you

Networking and Training Seminar (3-4 days), to explore the possibilities of partnership between organized civil society and public bodies in small towns and villages.

The seminar will take place in Numancia de La Sagra, Toledo, Spain in October 2014 and is addressed to organizations (NGO, associations...) and public bodies from small towns and villages in Europe. It would be required that from every village at least one responsible from a local public body (city council, local policy maker) and one responsible form a social organization (NGO, association) will participate together in the seminar.

Seminar's First Objective:
to share our good practice regarding public-private social cooperation in our town, Numancia de La Sagra; which already has been selected "2012 Good Practice in the field of Youth in Castilla La Mancha", our region. Since 2010 Proyecto Kieu NGO and the Local Council of Numancia de La Sagra work together in the Youth field. Youth in Action Programme has been a key stone in this partnership and now we are exploring Erasmus+ new possibilities. We want to share with other City Councils and Organizations how we make all this possible in our small town.

Seminar's Second Objective:
to make contact and knowing organizations similar to Proyecto Kieu (small, dedicated, short in resources, creative and willing to bring new, exciting, international activities to our places).
Start thinking together in future projects in which we can be partners in the frame of Erasmus+ as Youth Exchanges, International Youth Initiatives, Strategic Alliances, and Trainings.

Project overview

Small Matters is a project by
Proyecto Kieu
taking place
from 2014-10 till 2014-11
This project relates to:
Action 4.3 (Training and Networking)
and is focusing on:
  • Coach for Youth Initiative
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Human rights
  • Integration
  • Leadership
  • Non-formal learning
  • Sustainable development
  • Unemployment/employability
  • Urban/rural development
  • Volunteering
This project can include young people with fewer opportunities like
  • Social obstacles
  • Economic obstacles
  • Geographical obstacles
If you feel this is the kind of activity that can contribute to consolidate and move forward with your work, please contact us. We are planning to apply for funds in next Erasmus+ open call (April 30th). Each partner organization in the project would be responsible for selecting, at least, one of their workers/volunteers and also invite (and encourage) to participate some of the local City Council responsibles (technician or politician). We preferable would like to work with organizations and City Councils from remote or bad communicated places, rural areas, pre-urban areas or places, like ours, that are very close (geography) to big cities (Madrid and Toledo) but indeed very isolated for Youngsters because there is no good public transportation system available. We’ll also welcome organizations working with youngsters with fewer opportunities in social or economical terms, such as high youth unemployment, family issues or few study choices in close by schools.
