Skills validation

The project aims to create new tools and instruments in the field of recognition and validation of no formal learning

European learners, volunteers and workers should be able to have their skills and qualifications understood and recognised, within and across national borders, by employers and by educational institutions.
During the last decades European initiatives were put in place promoting the transparency and recognition of skills and qualifications and mobility, such as the European Qualifications Framework (EFQ), tools for credit systems, quality assurance and documentation of skills and competences. The implementation of these initiatives has been slow and mobility is still hampered between and within countries, both in the area of education and in the area of employment: obtaining a formal education and training in the field has not yet been developed to its full capacity and potential, leaving a majority of unemployed without any formal education or training or recognition of their knowledge, skills and competencies. For this reason, the project will provide the opportunity to assess the knowledge, skills and competencies that young people have gained informally, through work, volunteering or through the development of a talent throughout the years.

Aims and target group

The project aims towards the use and exploitation of previous projects, best practices and action plans that have been materialized by the consortium of partners and which relate to:

- the development of a system of assessment for trainers/educators;
- the development of a methodology of assessment of informal and non-formal qualifications in the field of unemployment through the validation and valorization of informal knowledge.

The sectors involved are NGOs, civil society organisations and the sector of Social Economy.

Outcomes

Participants will elaborate a common tool usefull for the validation and recognition process. This tool will be experimented at a local level by every project partner at the end of the training.
