For the first time in Italy, deaf children of different nationalities and have overcome linguistic obsticle by working together and sharing their everyday life. Associazione culturale Eufemia in collaboration with CIIA of Turin, has brought to life project SIGNS IN EUROPE under the Erasmus+ program. The Association hosted in Turin 29 young people from Belarus, Turkey and Italy. There were 7 languages used: English, the three native languages spoken and the three sign languages.
Objectives we would like to meet are unemployment, citizenship and education. With "Sign in a photo" those who walked the streets of the Turin’s center have stopped the passers-by and asked them to learn a "word marked". In the main square Piazza Castelo we organized a flash mob on the Italian song "Like a piiore" of Fashion feat. Jarabe de Palo the smiles, singing voices and hands, with emotions and expressions of the body connected participants with the song. For a few minutes the square and became theater and three huge acronym LIS (Italian Sign Language) was the scenery. The structure was covered with the photos showing the days during the project and proving that integration is possible. And to "sing" there were also students and teachers from the Institute of Deafs’, that participated two days of the exchange to present the deaf culture in Turin.
