Shades of Us

The project empowers 36 young adults from six countries by exploring street art as a tool for self-expression, intercultural dialogue, and social impact.

"Shades of Us" is a Youth Exchange that explores street art as a powerful form of self-expression, intercultural dialogue, and social participation. Bringing together young people from different countries, the project introduces participants to various street art techniques, including graffiti, stencil art, murals, paste-ups, and urban illustration, while encouraging them to express their identities, experiences, and perspectives through creativity.

Throughout the exchange, participants take part in practical workshops, collaborative art sessions, discussions, and community-based activities that examine the role of street art in shaping public spaces, promoting inclusion, and raising awareness of social issues. Working together on collective artworks, they strengthen their creativity, communication, teamwork, and intercultural understanding while transforming ideas into meaningful visual messages.

The project challenges common stereotypes surrounding street art and presents it as a positive educational tool that empowers young people to engage with their communities. At the end of the exchange, participants return home with new artistic skills, greater confidence in expressing themselves, stronger intercultural connections, and practical ideas for using street art to promote dialogue, inclusion, and positive social change in their local communities.
