This is a Training Course for youth workers to exchange experience about migration and integration, methods to work with discrimination in Sweden.
Sensitization for Action
Through this project we would like create a meeting place for youth worker who can share experiences and knowledge about statistic of refugees and immigrant numbers, how migration systems work, how authorities work together and integration process in local society for different countries. This will enable us to have deep discussions about discrimination between different cultures.
All partners will bring their information to the project meeting. This information will be a base for the project and will be used throughout the workshops to increase awareness of how discrimination starts. We will use non- formal education to discuss about generalization, prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination and how they relate with each other. This training course will make youth workers and their organizations more aware of the situation between cultures and will increase sensitivity to how a single thought about another culture can lead to discrimination.
Additionally it is also important to act against discrimination when it appears around our daily environment. To be an active citizen will be supported by providing tools for youth workers who will fight against discrimination. After the project youth workers can have a meeting with their local groups and volunteers, share experience from the project and practice some tools with them. In this way more young people will be involved in to project.
Main objectives of the training course are;
- To offer a unique opportunity for youth workers and organizations to join into training course and express themselves about migration process and system from different countries and exchange these knowledge.
- To raise awareness of the meaning of culture and diversity.
- To sensitize youth workers about the process of generalization, prejudices, stereotypes,
discrimination.
- To give tools for youth workers who can fight against discrimination.

First one will be the countries that refugees and immigrants are arriving or entering to Europe such as Italy, Spain, France, and Greece. The second group will be the countries the refugees and immigrant are reluctant to stay longer which we call transit countries such as Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Latvia. The final group will be the countries were refugees remain and plan their future such as Sweden, Germany and England. As well as these 3 groups, Turkey can be the key country in regards to the number of refugees and immigrants because of current problems within the Middle East.
