SEEDS - Strengthening the role of youth workers and young leaders to foster peace and nonviolent development in the Euro-Mediterranean Region

The project includes the launch, testing and validation of a training course aiming at engaging actively both youth workers and young leaders into peace education, intersectionality, and nonviolent community development.

General objective: To empower the role of youth-workers and young leaders in fostering peace and advancing nonviolent development in their communities and throughout the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Specific Objective/s: To increase the capacity of youth-workers and young leaders in promoting peace education and nonviolent development, with a view to identifying and tackling challenges faced by vulnerable young people in their local communities and throughout the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Venue: Palermo, Italy
Duration: 7 days (excluding travel days)
Date: May or June 2026 - to be defined
Learning modules:
- Reflecting on personal and community values, biases, and assumptions related to violence and peace.
- Introduction to the Theory of Change.
- Analysis and identification of the root causes of challenges faced by vulnerable young people in their local communities and throughout the Euro-Mediterranean region.
- Introduction to intersectional thinking in community development and youth work: applying intersectionality in the analysis phase and stakeholders engagement.
- From analysis to action: turning problems and/or conflicts into shared objectives and strategies for nonviolent community development.
- Designing intersectional and youth-based projects that foster peace education and nonviolent community development.
- Exchange of youth-based practices and community experiences on peace education and nonviolent development in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The concept note with more detailed information will be sent to all interested organizations from both EU and Southern Mediterranean countries, upon request.
