SEAFOW: Promoting Sustainable Education and Alleviating Food Waste for Social Welfare

Promoting Sustainable Education and Alleviating Food Waste for Social Welfare" (SEAFOW)

We are looking for our last partner with expertise in the topic of sustainability and ecological approach through education (KA210-YOU)

OUR PARTNERSHIP INCLUDES SK, IT, RO

Project Objectives:
The overarching aim of the "Promoting Sustainable Education and Alleviating Food Waste for Social Welfare" (SEAFOW) project is to holistically address two critical issues in the European Union: the deficiency of sustainability education in schools and the pervasive problem of food waste. This initiative endeavors to make a meaningful contribution to the priority of "Environment and fight climate change," with a foundational approach rooted in the values of "Inclusion, promoting equality and non-discrimination."
One key objective revolves around the enhancement of the competences of educators in sustainability lifestyles. The project sets out to achieve this by implementing a comprehensive training program, targeting a minimum of 25 educators per partner. The training will be structured around the GreenComp model (the European sustainability competence framework), designed to equip educators with the necessary skills to deliver sustainability-focused lessons. This objective directly aligns with the broader priority of addressing environmental concerns and promoting a more sustainable future.
Another pivotal objective is centered on promoting active citizenship, specifically in the context of combating climate change through localized efforts to reduce food waste. SEAFOW aims to actively engage a minimum of 100 students in each participating country in sustainable food activities. By doing so, the project seeks to instill a sense of agency and ownership among the youth, empowering them to actively contribute to environmental preservation and climate action.

Project Outcomes:
The anticipated outcomes of the SEAFOW project are intricately tied to its broader context and priorities. The project envisions that a transformative experience will be undergone by at least 140 educators and youth workers in youth or grassroot organizations. These individuals will gain heightened awareness of environmental issues, ready to serve as ambassadors and multipliers at both local and European levels.
The project aims for tangible improvements in the reduction of food waste and the enhancement of food security within the communities and vulnerable groups involved. By measuring these improvements, SEAFOW seeks to demonstrate the practical efficacy of its initiatives in addressing pressing environmental and social challenges.
A key outcome involves the creation of a new repository of educational materials, anchored in the GreenComp model and focused on sustainable food. This repository serves as a cornerstone for envisioning the scale-up of the project, ensuring the sustainability of its educational initiatives beyond the project's duration.
Lastly, to ensure the longevity and impact of the project, SEAFOW places a significant emphasis on stakeholder engagement. The goal is to actively involve a minimum of 10 stakeholders in each participating country during the project. This engagement is seen as instrumental in disseminating the project's outcomes effectively and securing a commitment to sustainability beyond the project's lifespan.
The project strategically intertwines its objectives and outcomes to address key priorities, offering a holistic approach that aligns with the overarching goals of promoting environmental sustainability and combating climate change. The main beneficiaries of the actions are the educators and professionals working within youth organizations, prioritizing their capacity building and engagement.
