[Science Tools for Youth: S.T.Y] ...Let's find togheter new persepectives for Youth Work through ICT tools orientered to defend biodiversity in our towns
[Science Tools for Youth: S.T.Y] is a project consisting in 1 Seminar and 3 Job Shadowing
periods. Legambiente Prato is currently working to find 10 interested partner organizations to join us.
Specifically 10 partner organizations from “Partner Countries” are willing to join the 1° Seminar that will take place in Prato (Tuscany) aiming to exchange good practices in the field of Science Citizenship building new perspectives in Youth Work by setting up replicable activities based on friendly ICT approaches and applications, discover and defence of local/urban biodiversity

Requirements for Partner organisations (that has to be highlighted while you’re applicating)
We're seeking for 10 partner organizations who want to join the Seminar, among them, 6
partner organizations participate also in the 3 Job Shadowing periods (2 partner
organizations for each Job Shadowing period to spend in Legambiente Prato)
Partner Countries are eligible for this project
Be registered in ECAS Portal or have PIC Number
Deal in at least one of the following topics:
-->Environment and Climate Change
--> Creativity and Culture
-->ICT - new technologies - digital competences
Experience or Interest in the field of non formal education activities with youngsters,
citizenship, children and students
Requirements for participants
Seminar (10 partner organizations)
2 youth workers for every Partner Organizations (NO AGE LIMIT)
Good command of English Language
Experience or Interest as a youth worker in the field of environmental education, scientific
education, ICT, outdoor activities, social animation
Job Shadowing ( 6 partner organizations among the 10 p.o. participating at the Seminar)
One participant (NO AGE LIMIT) for every partner organizations joining the Job
Shadowing
Availability to spend a period of 14-16 days in Legambiente Prato
Experience and/or interest in the field of Youth work through environmental
education, scientific education, ICT, outdoor activities
Open to give his/her contribution to build new perspectives in Youth Work and
share the skills and abilities gained during the Job Shadowing among young members
and staff of its association
Contents and Methods
Some of the contents of Seminar are:
Active citizenship; the biodiversity valorization
Practice of promotion and inclusions of youngsters in Science Citizenship activities: the
use of non-formal education
Who needs Citizen Science? Involvement, connection and responsibility of different
organizations and people
Practice of Outdoor Investigations and activities in urban environment through the use
of new technologies
Shared guidelines for Bioblitz in an urban environment and inside a natural area
These topics will be inspirational hints to develop key competences in the field of non formal education activities that every partner organization can run once back in their working context.
Some of the contents of 3 Job Shadowing periods are:
organization of 1-2 events (Bioblitz) for local youth in Prato
promotion and involvement of youngsters of Prato in the above mentioned Bioblitz trough
an advertisement local campaign (social network website)
definition of place (urban green area) and materials needed to carry out the events
Involvement of local organizations operating in the youth field
Definition of guide-lines to replicate similar contents in the countries/associations of
participants
Non formal methods adopted
Ice-breaking games, group-building activities, cooperative learning, learning by doing, outdoor
activities, working in groups, open debate
Estimated dates and venues for the project
Seminar: from 1st April 2016 to 3th April 2016 – Prato (travel days excluded)
Job Shadowing: from 18th May 2016 to 1st May 2016; -Prato (travel days excluded)
from 17th May 2016 to 30th May 2016; - Prato (travel days excluded)
from 3th June 2016 to 16th June 2016 – Prato (travel days excluded)
Objectives
This project aims to set up new perspectives for youth work, in order to involve youngsters in non
formal education activities in a new way, empowering their learning experiences through
technologies. These achievements may result useful to build new way of
Volunteerism at local level and increasing ideas and project also in the field of Erasmus+
“Science Tools for Youth” will take place only if Italian National Agency will approve and fund the
projects.
Economic conditions
-->Accommodation costs are covered by Erasmus+ program. Travel costs will be supported according
Erasmus+ distance calculator provided below: http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmusplus/tools/distance_en.htm
Participants joining the Seminar
-->Accomodation and food for the 3 days of Seminar will be provided. Location of the SEMINAR will
be the local hostel of Prato or hospitality structure of Prato to be identified
-->We will ask a contribution of 50 euros per participant (only for the Seminar). The contribution can
be partially deducted (max 10% of the individual travel grant) off from the quote for travels in
case the participant will spend less then the amount indicated according to distance calculator
tool
Participants joining the Job Shadowing will have
Accomodation (apartment in the center of Prato belonging to Legambiente, to share with
local long term volunteers)
Food Budget (100 euro) per participant for 2 weeks
Local transport Budget – bus/train- up to 25 euros per participant per 2 weeks
Support from local staff and volunteers of Legambiente Prato that will deliver supervision, task related support:
2 totally free-days
