Science journey

Science Journey is an Youth Exchange using hands-on science activities to inspire young people and explore science’s role in Europe’s future.

Science Journey is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project designed for young people, who are interested in science and are exploring their future educational and professional paths in research, innovation, and STEM-related fields.

The project aims to bring science closer to young people by presenting it as an accessible, engaging, and socially relevant field. Participants will explore how science works in practice – from formulating questions and hypotheses, through experimentation and observation, to discussing results and their impact on everyday life and society. Special attention will be given to the role of science in addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change, technological development, health, and sustainable development.

The project aims to empower young people through non-formal learning, supporting the development of scientific thinking alongside key competences for life, active citizenship, and future careers. Through an international exchange, participants from different countries will work together on scientific topics, share national perspectives on science education, and learn how research and innovation shape Europe’s future.

The programme will be based on non-formal and participatory methods, including interactive workshops, simple experiments, group research tasks, debates, simulations, and reflection activities. Young people will be actively involved in all phases of the project – preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up – strengthening their sense of ownership and responsibility for both the learning process and the outcomes.

Science Journey promotes:

- curiosity and interest in science and scientific careers,

- critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills,

- intercultural dialogue and European cooperation in the field of science and education,

- awareness of European values and the role of science in democratic and evidence-based decision-making,

- motivation for further learning and active participation in society.

The project also supports Erasmus+ horizontal priorities by promoting inclusion and diversity in science education, environmentally responsible practices, and the use of digital tools to support scientific learning and international cooperation.

Through this Youth Exchange, participants will not only deepen their interest in science, but also gain confidence in their abilities, develop a scientific mindset, and strengthen their connection to Europe and its shared values.
