School Participatory Budget - a tool to foster school democracy
Our aim is to enhance the foundation of democracy in EU countries by providing youth and youth workers with practical skills of active citizenship and a positive experience of practicing democracy through School Participatory Budgeting. The exchange of experience, research and pilot projects will contribute to development of shared best practices, advocacy strategy, and a network of engaged young citizens to further promote School PB and participatory democracy in EU countries.
Activities
We will conduct a full project cycle starting with a broad, first research on school participatory budgets in EU countries. We will use the research conclusions to develop innovative educational materials for youth and youth workers with practical tools for SPB implementation. We will test the materials in schools and invite a group of youth workers to an international training course and a series of national events. We will disseminate the knowledge developed through an extensive online course.
Impact
The expected results will be exchange of knowledge and tools between partner organizations through 5 transnational workshops and research work in own countries. Raising awareness about School PB amongst various actors of different levels of exposure to School PB through more connected advocacy on topics of education quality, democracy in schools, democracy development in EU. Increase the wave of School PB interest through action.
