Sail for Inclusion

we are planning a six months activity project under the Erasmus + sport programme in order to raise awareness and foster social inclusion of ASD subjects

Social inclusion obtained throughout challenging and innovative projects is one of the major points in most of today’s non profit organizations’ view. For many years Fondazione Oltre il Labirinto has been fostering inspiring action plans in order to tackle important issues regarding the lives of people affected by autism. We firmly believe that important goals can be obtained and we do believe that persons with mental disabilities must have the chance to fully develop their potential. All of this is possible only through the implementation of successful educational models and tools and the creation of innovative synergies between the fields of education, health and in this case sport.
We are planning multiple activities and meetings spread over a period of 6 months related to sport as a tool for inclusion, participation and equal access to all. This will lead to a final week-long cruise on a regatta sailing yacht for youngsters with ASD and operators working in the autism field. The trip will see the team sailing through the coasts of the Adriatic sea guided by the experience of a professional crew, the journey will promote important topics like genuine team work, social habilitation, cultural exchange and awareness raising activities.
