Rural Mobility is a special project to give more opportunities to the rural areas in the European Union through the European communication platform .
“Rural Mobility” will be developed in Pietramelara a rural town hall in the province of Caserta from 21to28 March. Pietramelara is located in a mainly rural and agricultural area; it has a big natural and cultural heritage which is still unknown to many. The association W.I.P. of Pietramelara is trying to implement activities of promotion of the area, events and guided tours, with the aim to develop this particular rural area, its agricultural, crafts and cultural economy. Are many the targets that have been achieved until today; above all is the one to have conducted in our area an awareness campaign towards our artistic and natural heritage, through conferences and other activities that have starred the young and the not so young.This project will have as background the rurality, which is still intact, of the community of Pietramelara; community intended as people, human relationship between individuals that is still very strong here; where people still meet each other in the main square to discuss everyday topics. Else rurality intended as people whom still cultivate the garden behind the house in order to produce some fresh vegetables; where people wake up every morning to go and farm the fields; where people still keeps alive the folk tradition, participating in social, religious and cultural events or activities.
Another background is the landscape. Pietramelara has a wonderful medieval burg, still intact, all enclosed between the fortified walls and with a single entry door. The burg has a circular shape with in its centre a Federiciana tower 35 meters high; from the top of this tower it is possible to see the surrounding landscape.Further Pietramelara has as a background the Monte Maggiore and the Monticello (former hunting estate of the Duke Paternò).The objective of the “Rural Mobility” is to build a network between the rural communities, network that will serve to break down geographical, social and economical barriers which up to now are the main causes to the depopulation of rural villages and areas.
This barriers can be overcome through the three main areas of the project:
1. Promotion of the rural areas (natural, architectural, historic heritage)
2. Development and implementation of social activities (openness to others; giving the opportunities to those less fortunate; involve the all community to safeguard and preserve the common goods)
3. Environment (protection of the natural heritage through the community sensitization).
The network that will be built between the rural communities could have a strong impact for the development of the communities itself and also for its economy.
The number of participants is 35; 7 people for each partner organization. The participants must be between 16 and 30 years old; must come from rural areas or from suburbs of bigger cities and that have lesser economic opportunities to move and travel.The activities regarding the three main topics: promotion of the rural areas; development and implementation of social activities; environment. The participants will be an active part in the workshops, in the guided tours, during the collection of testimonials and artifacts. The participants will be the developers of how the final project will be presented.The activities will be mainly carried out in open spaces; the participants will be followed by experts that throughout games, videos will arise the participants curiosity and at the same time will generate what is known as informal learning. The participants will learn through doing it. During the activities there will be facilitators whom will help the participants in the achievement of the objectives; tests will be realized; confrontations will be carried out through chatting.All these activities aimed to release the “Youth Pass”.
The methodology used for the realization of this project is:
• Concerted planning (the partners together will compare what are the real needs of the participants; which intervention would be more useful for the improvement of the life in the rural communities; what are the real resources on which apply the project in order to obtain some good results);
• Will be taken into account the competencies of the experts, the spaces and the environments where the activities will be carried out;
• The project is based on group activities (workshops, guided tours, conferences, games);
The expected results are: awareness towards its territory and the breakdown of geographical boundaries.
The expected impact is to expand the knowledge of the possibilities that a rural area can give through the cooperation with other communities and with the promotion of its heritage within Europe and the world. Further is expected a multilingualism development. The desired effects are that the participants will acquire attitudes, initiative and skills in order to use their resources for the revival of new activities that will produce and generate wealth at a local, regional, national and international level.
