Let's bring together youth workers experts in rural development, creative writing & visual arts to develop tools and create art books telling rural stories!
Rural Europe story! is a training course that will include 20 participants and take place in March 2016 in Saint Valery sur Somme, in France, for 2 weeks. The idea is to bring together youth workers specialized in rural development, creative writing and visual arts to exchange workshops. By animating activities for one another, they will develop tools to engage youngsters in rural development through writing and drawing. By implementing all the methods and exercises themselves, they will write, illustrate and edit a few multilingual art books fostering rural development.
DEEPER INTO THE IDEA
Somme bay, in Picardy, is a beautiful rural area. A few villages surround stretches of sand, pebble beaches and massive dunes. Unfortunately, the region is economically stigmatized and as a result, its beauty remains unknown. We want to attract attention on the poetry of the territory. What we want to do is bring together youth workers, creative writers and visual artists, so that they can exchange and animate workshops for each other and together write, illustrate and edit artists books telling rural stories. The whole process will teach them how to use creative writing and visual arts to express their views about rurality. As a result, we will also gain a few multilingual artist books engaging rural development, to use and spread in our societies… because we believe that the Somme bay deserves to be known and loved in all of Europe!

We organise projects for creatives and youth workers that bring together skills that are usually dissociated: live arts, digital competences, social sciences and more. Our team is around 30 volunteer members. We organized and participated in european exchanges and trainings for the past 6 years. You can see more on www.nomadways.eu

WHAT DO WE EXPECT?
As project partners, we would like you to help us design and realise a project that we can all be proud of! So, concretely, that implies:
-find 1 or 2 youth workers who are passionately into visual arts and/or citizen use of public spaces to take part in the activities
-help them propose and prepare workshops in these fields, that they will animate for the others during the training
-have them ready to participate as actively as they can
-when the time comes, spread the word about the training and its results!
Also, whatever we plan for this project, we will ask for your opinion and expect some constructive criticism and creative thinking from you!
