A 7-day training in Georgia for 24 youth workers to build resilience through mindfulness, peer support and practical tools for everyday youth work.
Room to Breathe is a 7-day KA153 Mobility of Youth Workers training course held in Georgia, bringing together 24 youth workers and 2 trainers from 6 partner organisations. The course combines mindfulness, experiential learning and peer support to strengthen youth workers' resilience and their ability to create supportive learning environments. It responds to the growing need for practical methods to manage stress, respond constructively to challenges and support young people through uncertainty.
The programme approaches resilience through emotional awareness, healthy boundaries, adaptability and supportive relationships. Through workshops, outdoor learning, role-play and facilitation practice, participants develop stress awareness, grounding and reflection methods, attentive listening, supportive communication and inclusive facilitation. Activities such as Stress and Support Mapping, Mindful Listening, Boundaries in Practice and the Plan B Challenge help participants explore their responses to demanding situations. They then design and test short sessions, receive peer feedback and prepare plans for local implementation. Daily reflection and Youthpass support learning recognition, while mindfulness exercises remain voluntary with accessible alternatives and clear educational boundaries.
Participants will gain practical facilitation skills and a shared collection of tested session formats. Within eight weeks, each partner will organise a local activity using selected methods, followed by an online follow-up meeting to review experiences and adaptations. This supports the continued use of these methods in regular youth work, extending the project's impact beyond the training itself.
