Reverse Logistics: a milestone towards circular economy and environmental sustainability

The project "Reverse Logistics: a milestone towards circular economy and environmental sustainability" highlights the importance of consumption and recycling as basic factors within a broader concept known as circular economy.

According to the latest Eurostat report, 530 kg of waste was generated per capita at municipal level in the EU in 2021, with a large percentage diversity within the different European regions. On average, 48% of municipal waste is recycled, 2 points below the 50% target set by Directive 62/1994 for 2001, and far short of the 65% target for 2025.

The project will enable personal development in the use of product consumption and waste recycling patterns more in line with a sustainable economy, making participants, de facto, real agents of change towards a more sustainable and efficient economy.

In this sense, the project will have a great impact on those people whose age or lack of knowledge generates patterns that, far from contributing to an efficient circular economy, hinder it or even generate additional costs, causing environmental sustainability to move away from the recycling targets set by the EU for 2025 within the 2030 Agenda.
