The project will take place in Palermo (Sicily, Italy) in 10 days. Theme: regeneration and requalification of natural environments and green spaces.
The Association Leaf is applying for a Youth Exchange project entitled “Regenerating nature, enhancing community” in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme KA1 (deadline April 26th). The project aims at involving young people in the regeneration and requalification of public green spaces, as well as of the landscape heritage.
The exchange will take place in Palermo, from 6th to 15th November 2018.
Palermo is the regional capital of Sicily, a region known all over the world for its huge cultural and landscape heritage, as well as for its environmental and natural resources, although they are often not preserved as they should be. In this framework, Leaf works for enhancing youngsters’ awareness and civic engagement about environmental issues.
The project aims to put together participants’ experiences in order to identify European best practices for the regeneration and the requalification of natural environments and green spaces. The activities will focus on the exchange of ideas and practices concerning each national context. In particular, participating organisations will share information and knowledge about their own realities and their own tools and models for action in green spaces with young people.
A “European vademecum for the involvement of young people in the regeneration of green spaces” will be developed with the purpose of sharing valid reproducible tools and guidelines for requalification actions all over the EU.
The activities will be designed following the approach of placemaking which aims at creating strong connections between people and places, in particular in the framework of regeneration initiatives. These connections foster cooperation, enhancing the quality of public spaces, as well as their role in civic life and in people’s well-being.
The Association Leaf was founded by university students passionate about environmental issues. The purpose of those students is educating and informing the society about the respect for the environment, as well as contributing to the territorial regeneration processes in an environmentally sustainable perspective. Their activities also concern the preservation of biodiversity and nature, the promotion of the scientific method, as well as the respect for the environment and for cultural diversities.
This is the reason why Leaf looks for 5 people per organization (4 participants and 1 group leader) for a maximum of 5 organization from different countries.
The APV will take place from 21st to 24th August 2018 (two travel days and two working days).
