REACTING EVERYDAY LIFE: a project to provide young people with the tools for an effective management of everyday life's emotions by using the art of Theater
Years of experience and direct dialogue with young people have pointed out that many young Europeans find difficulties in getting in touch with their irrational side and managing their emotions. These difficulties have repercussions on the daily life that young people live, both within pre-established structures, such as school or the world of work, and in more informal environments. We believe that providing young people with tools to manage their energies and their daily emotions can make them more emancipated and self-confident, necessary conditions for them to be able to imagine and realize their projects and give a contribution to the society in which they live. The REACTING EVERYDAY LIFE project, a Youth Exchange, intends to use the informal education methodology of the Theater to provide young people with effective tools for managing their emotions in everyday life: through the practice of dramatizing everyday events, young people can have a critical vision of their current situation and that of others, of their own way of reacting to the stimuli and challenges of everyday life. This will allow them to increase the psychophysical awareness of themselves and others, and as a result this will enable them to grasp the opportunities that life offers them and to plan their own future based on their own desires, abilities and needs. The project’s core includes an exchange between young Europeans belonging to youth organizations from 5 different countries and activities animated with the collaboration of a professional actor and an expert of Theater of the Oppressed method.
