Youth workers try free EU tools (LibreOffice, Thunderbird, AI) instead of Big Tech. Less time on logins, more time for youth work.
Re-Boot: Let's Make EU Software Great Again
1. What
Training course on free, EU-based, open-source software - LibreOffice, Thunderbird, open AI tools - as real alternatives to Big Tech platforms.
2. Why
Youth workers lose time and energy on logins, subscriptions, and platform friction. This project frees that time for actual youth work.
3. Who
Youth workers from partner organisations across Europe. Min. age 16, no upper limit.
4. Where
Linz, Austria - hosted by Verein MUSE.
5. When
1-5 May 2027
6. How
a. Day 1: explore the tools - hands-on with LibreOffice, Thunderbird, open AI tools.
b. Days 2-3: practice in context - participants stay in the same room but "pretend" to be in different countries, sending emails and working on shared files to test what actually works without friction.
c. Laptops required for all participants.
7. What we're looking for
Up to 6 partner organisations (one per target country) to co-design the programme and send participants.
Selection: priority goes to organisations from Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Poland - closer travel means a smaller carbon footprint, in line with our project's green values. Remaining spots go by reply order.
